The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) lead agency, has released a Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) for the Statewide Adoption of Regulations for the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act (SB 54, Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022). The Draft PEIR has been prepared to analyze and disclose the potential environmental effects of the proposed program, identify mitigation measures to reduce significant environmental effects, and identify feasible alternatives to avoid or minimize significant environmental effects.
The Draft PEIR CalRecycle is being circulated for a 45-day comment period from November 4, 2024 through December 19, 2024. In accordance with CEQA, agencies are requested to review the Draft PEIR (SCH#2024070487) and to provide comments on environmental issues related to the statutory responsibilities of each responsible or trustee agency.
